Negative. The 04 sti differs from the 05 in that the front differential has more of an edge on dirt and less so on street. I think the 06 got some additional things like steering wheel angle sensor for dccd, and I believe a slightly different center diff. Possibly syncho changes also to tranny. Also the dccd rate changed from 35/65 to 41/59 in 06. I've had both an 05 and an 06 and they are very similar. In 07 the tranny gear ratios changed to be longer, the turbo changed and some other parts. The cars seemed to suffer a little more engine related reliability problems for whatever reason.

I'd say go with an 05/06 but don't plan to keep it stock. People try to hold to what they think they know but the subaru is tuned very poorly stock. You can little get a custom tune with full exhaust gain more psi and about 60hp and have the engine last longer and be more reliable. DON"T GET A STOCK TUNED ONE, it's better to have a lightly stage 2 modified exhaust+tune. You should have a compression / leakdown done to any soob you might purchase.

Also these cars are a huge mistake to leave the suspension stock, there are so many amazing parts that increase the cars capabilities and handling with zero ill effect, actually many that increase the ride on bumpy roads as well as handling. You need to be careful with what you buy thats all.

These cars are very easy to drive fast and forgiving, no sti will steering you wrong. Remember you need to stop before the corner and always use maintenance throttle with awd, they don't turn without power. Don't get scared and fully let off in a bad situation or you will make it worse.
